Tastes like: Cranberry | Oak | Old Fashioned

It was not until the early 2000s, amidst a complex process of cultural and economic recovery from national tragedy, that coffee turned into a cornerstone of hope and pride for Rwanda. Repositioned as a vital element of the country’s burgeoning agricultural sector, various domestic and international agencies invested significant energy and capital into sustainable quality for the new coffee industry. The Vunga Cooperative, which consists of 260 contributing members along the Virunga mountains in northwest Rwanda, was built in 2009 and has grown steadily in output over the years. This harvest, allied with Kigali-based Muraho Trading Company, the co-op comfortably surpassed its previous record output, and the seasons to come hold potential to produce even greater yields, as investments are made into on-farm infrastructure as well as a nursery for cultivating stronger plants. Thrilled to have access to such beautiful and unique coffees, we purchased one other Rwandan lot made available to us through Muraho Trading and our longtime trading partners at InterAmerican, set to join our lineup a bit later in the year.
